The Jacob Rhodes Family Papers
Summary
This collection features the original papers of Jacob Rhodes, his son Dr. Richard Clinton Rhodes, and the Absalom Davis family letters. The materials date back to 1788 and include handwritten correspondence, personal letters, court records, deeds, land grants, accounts payable, and receipts.
The Jacob Rhodes Family Papers were presented to Mary Livermore Library in August of 2001, by former Judge and local historian, Henry A. McKinnon. The collection
is on permanent loan from Historic Robeson, Inc. This collection was originally curated by the family of Hugh Bentley Rhodes, the great-great grandson of Jacob Rhodes, and made its way from the Rhodes Family home in Arkansas back to Robeson County, where Jacob was born.
