Biographical / Historical
“Strike at the Wind!” debuted in 1976 and has been one of North Carolina’s longest-running outdoor dramas. The musical was written by Randolph Umberger with music by Willie French Lowery. It has been an iconic piece of Lumbee culture covering the legendary figure, Henry Berry Lowrie and the Lowry Gang as they waged war against Confederate soldiers.
The musical continues to be performed during the summer at the Adolph Dial Amphitheater in Maxton, North Carolina.
