Phillip Austin “Rip” Roberts (1894–1953) was born July 24, 1894 in Red Springs, NC and died March 3, 1953 in Lumberton, NC. He graduated from the Agricultural and Mechanical College at Raleigh (NC A&T) in 1916. He came to Robeson County before 1938 as a civil engineer and became the engineer for the City of Lumberton.
