Biographical / Historical
The Battle of Hayes Pond, also called the Battle of Maxton Field was an armed confrontation between members of a Ku Klux Klan organization and citizens of the Lumbee Nation at a Klan rally near Maxton, North Carolina, on the night of January 18, 1958.
This collection includes primary and secondary sources about the incident including transcripts of interviews of individuals present at the event, articles, photographs, and more.
